Art project with Carl Ahlstrom, Kelly Shpeley and Christine Frestad
Semi Finalist in the Miss Norway 2010, Christine Frestad, is one of many girls who have been in demand by photographers after last year’s beauty pageant. In December, she got the opportunity to be part of a collaboration between painter Kelly Shpeley from Canada and photographer Carl Ahlström from Sweden.
The idea was to present the model as a fabulous underwater creature, and Kelly wanted to experiment in the body art genre, as she had ever seen before. Kelly usually creates surrealistic paintings and works often with experimental materials.
Help from a hobby shop
From Panduro Hobby on Karl Johans in Oslo was the project bring out what they needed by the body paint, glitter, hudlim, veil fabric and artificial stones. Christine went from Sandnes, Carl from Gothenburg and Kelly had set up a makeshift studio in an apartment in Oslo. The project was started.
An extensive decorative work
It took about 8 hours to get Chris ready for the shoot. Arms, legs, torso and face were painted before the final touches were completed, namely the part Christine user to sit with. So it was clear to paste the “find” and the stones in the face. This meant that Christine had to stand for another couple of hours. Christine did not complain a single second. For now she knew that the fun could begin, namely, to pose for the photographer.
The result
The photographer had rigged lighting, background and worked with the concept. Shooter was informal and it was a good atmosphere. Christine took the Executive Board in a superb way, which was impressive considering that it was already late at night. There was a lot of playfulness and it was shot a large amount of images. What you see below is a taster from backstage when the artist fixes some of the facade.
What images are used to when they finish is still a well kept secret:)
